5th July 2024 (These release notes will be updated throughout the month)
These are the release notes for the July 2024 tranche of updates. We actively update and maintain our software packages as well as infrastructure to keep your sites running as fast as possible.
The changes in this release are as follows:
- VPS Image Deprecation:
- Debian 10 - following the announcement from the Debian community that Debian 10 will be going end of life, we have decided to deprecate the Debian 10 image from our cloud infrastructure, this means that no new customers will be able to install VPS' with Debian 10 from our native templates. It is still possible to upload your own ISO image with an OS of your choice to install, so you can use this method if you need Debian 10. Customers running Debian 10 have also been contacted and encouraged to upgrade to Debian 11 or Debian 12.
- Oracle Linux - There has been no use of, or appetite for, the Oracle Linux VPS Images, so we have removed them from our VPS Template library, to free disk space and reduce ongoing maintenance. These can be re-introduced if requested or a need arises.
- OpenSUSE - There has been no use of, or appetite for, the OpenSUSE VPS Images, so we have removed them from our VPS Template library, to free disk space and reduce ongoing maintenance. These can be re-introduced if requested or a need arises.
- Zarro VoIP Panel Upgrade - It is now possible in our VoIP (Zarro Digital Voice) panel to view your live call logs and the price of each call made.
- VPS Firewall - a firewall function has been added to the user interface of our cloud VPS environment, allowing users to set their own firewall rules from our cloud, allowing and denying connections to/from their VPS. Documentation will follow in our KB.
- RegreSSHion Updates - Our own infrastructure, and Managed VPS customers have received security patches following the announcement of the OpenSSH vulnerability this month. Unmanaged VPS customers have been contacted with a Security Bulletin prompting them to update their binaries.
- DirectAdmin Updates - Our hosting stack has been upgraded to the latest version of DirectAdmin,
1.665
- LiteSpeed Updates - Our hosting stack has been upgraded to the latest version of LiteSpeed Enterprise,
6.3
The above upgrades were performed in line with our regular patching schedule, and exclude other general maintenance patches, such as security updates and kernel updates which are performed regularly and in most cases, autonomously.
If you notice any issues in relation to the recent upgrades, please raise a support ticket.
