18th May 2024
These are the release notes for the May 2024 tranche of updates. We actively update and maintain our software packages as well as infrastructure to keep your sites running as fast as possible.
The changes in this release are as follows:
- DirectAdmin Upgrade: We have upgraded to the latest current release of DirectAdmin,
1.663
- Security Patching: Our Omada, Unifi, Antispam, Client Portal and Nameservers have been patched to the latest patches from the Debian Stable repository.
- Upgrade to Bookworm: The final Debian Bullseye servers have now been seamlessly upgraded to Debian Bookworm, providing better performance, reliability and security.
- Security.txt Support: The latest version of DirectAdmin supports automatic creation of
security.txt files.
- Antispam BETA Release: Our Antispam platform has now moved from the
Alpha to Beta channel, meaning we are closer to a stable production release (thank you to all early adopters who have been testing and providing feedback)!
- VPS Images: We have now released the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS VPS Image, which is now readily available on our Cloud platform. RHEL 9.3 images have been updated to RHEL 9.4.
- Itemised VoIP Billing: We have released itemised billing for our Cloud Voice platform - future invoices will include the caller ID, start time, duration and cost on each invoice line, rather than 'snapshot' billing which only included all your cumulative charges on one line.
- LiteSpeed Update: LiteSpeed has been updated from version
6.2.1 to version 6.2.2 in the latest release.
- Affiliate Instant Withdrawals: We have developed a new feature within our Affiliate panel which allows our affiliates to now instantly withdraw their commission into their account balance. We have also reduced the required amount to withdraw from £5 to £1, to allow for more affiliates to benefit from the scheme.
- GeoIP Integration for LiteSpeed Cache: We have now integrated the MaxMind GeoLite database into our LiteSpeed Enterprise configuration. This allows you to now serve a different cache copy of your site per country, for example where a currency should update across different countries, this function will serve a different cached copy of your site for individual countries.
- Broadband SSID/Password: We have now added additional fields to our Broadband integration, which now shows you the SSID and Password that we set for your wireless network when you purchase a broadband router from us. Note that this will not display any changes that you make to your SSID/Password currently, but we do plan to integrate a functionality which will allow you to edit your Wireless Network settings from within our portal.
- VPS Backup Improvements: We have added additional cold storage to the datacenter, which allows for faster local backups. This has reduced average time of a backup (of a VPS-2 server) from ~45 minutes to ~2 minutes. Restores of backups are equally performant now.
The above upgrades were performed in line with our regular patching schedule, and exclude other general maintenance patches, such as security updates and kernel updates which are performed regularly and in most cases, autonomously.
If you notice any issues in relation to the recent upgrades, please raise a support ticket.
